Every Friday night we bring local musicians to our fireplace stage to serenade you as you enjoy Happy Hour sips from The Bar, 7-9 p.m.
Our artist this week is Mary Ruth McLeay!
About Mary Ruth...
What group or artist most influenced your style?
I would say my first influence was Cat Stevens because my mom kept his CD in her car, as well as James Taylor and The Beatles. I’m also the youngest of seven kids, all of whom grew up in the early 2000s and had very different styles, so I heard a lot of Death Cab For Cutie and Britney Spears. Those are all very different artists, but all influenced me heavily.
I’ve always really liked mashed potatoes and the fact that they’re eaten during Thanksgiving and Christmas time. I maintain that my mom’s are the best and am currently looking forward to that time of the year for that reason and all of the other obvious ones.
If you could have any superpower, what would it be and why?
I’d probably want to teleport. Life would be so much easier if I could just flash in and out. I’m 15 right now, and can’t drive until February, so conveniently jumping from one place to another sounds VERY appealing!
Where else can we hear you play in Omaha?
I’m usually at the 402 open mic night on Mondays and you can find most information on Twitter @maryruthmusic, or Facebook and Instagram @maryruth.music.
